About thirty minutes North of Cape Foulwind is the little settlement of Granity, which originally earned its name by gold prospectors, who referenced the large quantity of granite in the area. Granity boasts spectacular views of the Tasman sea and a wild untamed coastline. However, in more recent years this small settlement has been in a David and Goliath battle with the sea which has been relentless in its erosion of land.
